In the 1980s, Foredown Tower was purchased and renovated by a local conservation group called the Foredown Tower Trust. The trust transformed the disused water tower into an educational and community resource, focusing on astronomy and science. Today, Foredown Tower is home to the Foredown Tower Astronomers, a group of amateur astronomers who share their knowledge and passion for astronomy with the public. The tower features a small observatory on its roof, equipped with telescopes for stargazing and observing celestial objects.

Besides astronomy, Foredown Tower also hosts various events and workshops related to science, nature, and history. Visitors can explore the tower's interactive science exhibits, learn about the local wildlife and environment, and take part in educational activities suitable for people of all ages. The tower's unique architecture and panoramic views of the surrounding area also make it a popular venue for weddings and other private events. The site is well-maintained with beautiful gardens, providing a tranquil space for visitors to enjoy. Overall, Foredown Tower has become a valuable asset to the community, offering educational and recreational opportunities while preserving a historic landmark in Portslade.
